A BIBLICAL STORY OF HYPOCRISY IN THE CHURCH
Galatians 2:11-14

WHAT IS HYPOCRISY?
Galatians 2:14b

THEY TRY TO APPEAR THIS WAY: BUT THESE ARE THEIR CONVICTIONS:
Inwardly holy Outwardly displaying holiness (Matthew 6:2-16; 23:25-27)
Fearing God (worship) Fearing Man (Mark 7:6)
Focused on God’s Truth Focused on Man’s Traditions (Matthew 15:6-7; Luke 13:14-15)
Blessing Others Using Others (Matthew 23:13-15; Luke 13:14-15)
Loving and Merciful Legalistic and Judgmental (Matthew 7:5; 23:23; Luke 6:42)
Wise Guides Deceiving others (& themselves) (Matthew 22:18; 23:29; 24:48-51; Luke 12:56)

THE THREE TYPES OF SINNERS

  • If you try to act like you can keep the Law = you are a  sinner
  • If you don’t try to act like you can keep the Law = you are an  sinner
  • If you don’t try to act like you can keep the Law but seek God’s strength to keep it = you are a  sinner

There are no hypocritical CHRISTIANS. There are only hypocritical SINNERS who say they are Christians.

ARE YOU A HYPOCRITE?

“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is people who think they can keep the Law better than others. That is what genuine Christian believers simply find unbelievable.”
