Training Leaders International (TLI) provides theological training for pastors around the world who have little or no access to pastoral training. We work with a National Partner who is a recognized leader among evangelical pastors in the region.

TLI is committed to a "team approach", with a TLI staff member leading a teaching team composed of pastors and professors, many of whom are teaching overseas for the first time. They gain a greater vision of God's world-wide kingdom and often return to teach at the same location again.

Steve is the TLI Site Director at Grace Life Seminary in Liberia, a new school that has seen explosive growth, training 40 pastors in the M.Div. program from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, with another cohort of 20 pastors beginning studies in 2021. Steve also teaches regularly at seminaries in Togo, India, Brazil and Serbia, and leads teaching teams in Mongolia, Malawi, Tanzania, and undisclosed places around the world.

His great joy is to see pastors equipped to become faithful expositors of God's Word and grow in their ability to shepherd God's people in their churches.

Steve joined TLI in 2015, having served as a pastor at the Orland EFC (1985-1998) and at Grace Community Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan (1998-2014).  Steve is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM, 1985) and Biola University (1980).
